Weekend Pick - Philophobia: or the Fear of Falling in Love

Every once in a while a film will come along that feels completely fresh, offering something you've never quite seen before. Philophobia: or the Fear of Falling in Love is very much one of those films.

Covering a well-known idea - having an emotionally-damaged character scared of falling back in love - but doing so in a completely unique way, this comedy-horror-drama truly offers a bit of everything.

What the film lacks in budget it makes up for in atmosphere and heart, creating a properly engaging flick with a sharp and funny yet though-provoking and impactful script.

Aaron Burt is phenomenal in the lead role of Damien Booster, creating a character that is likeable but flawed and managing to nail the full range of emotions Damien experiences in a frantic 85 minute runtime.

Burt is complemented by a fantastic supporting cast which includes David Lengel, recently of WandaVision and Coming 2 America fame, who shows his impressive potential as comic relief Alan.
