Rare Beasts Gets UK Cinema Release Date
Updated: Apr 14
Rare Beasts, the directorial debut of Billie Piper, has received a release date for UK and Irish cinemas.
Pitched as an "anti rom-com", the film follows a career-driven single mother named Mandy (played by Piper) who reluctantly falls in love, and is set to come to movie theatres on Friday, May 21.
Having premiered at the Venice Film Festival’s Critics’ Week before going on to play at London Film Festival and SXSW, Rare Beasts has been described as "audacious" and "a reeling account of modern love and womanhood".
An impressive cast includes the likes of Lily James, Leo Bill and Kerry Fox, with the award-winning Vaughan Sivell also credited as a producer.
Republic Film Distribution is behind the move to bring Rare Beasts to the big screen, with cinemas across the country set to reopen from Monday, May 17.
Full synopsis: "Mandy is a modern woman in a crisis. Raising a son, Larch (Toby Woolf), in the midst of a female revolution, mining the pain of her parents' separation and professionally writing about a love that no longer exists, she falls upon a troubled man, Pete (Bill), who is searching for a sense of worth, belonging and ‘restored’ male identity."
